Hi everyone, its been a very long time since I've been here. I had surgery for Crohns in 1997 and have had no Crohns related trouble since until recently. Went to the doctor this past week and had my first colonoscopy in 9 years thankfully. Good news for the most part, no signs of Crohns that he could see. I did however get the IBS attached to the Crohns, but hopefully that can be handled easy enough.
I have to go have an IBD Serology 7 test done on Tuesday to see if there are any signs that the Crohns is even there. My question is this: If I had surgery in 1997 because of fistula (and there was a lot of them) and the fact that my small intestine at the terminal ileum had narrowed so much that food couldn't pass through, the Crohns couldn't just go away could it? I'm really confused that if this test comes back negative how can he say I didn't have the crohns with all the trouble I had. IBS doesn't cause fistulas, narrowing, fever, or weight loss like I had.
Is there anyone out there like me that has Crohns and have been in remission for a long time like me? I have been in remission for 13 years now and I know he's thinking that this is a long time to have no symptoms. This coming test has got me really upset cause I know it was Crohns before and so does the doctor, but what if this test shows nothing? Don't get me wrong, I would be grateful to hear that it's not Crohns and that I'll never have to go through what I did that one year. Just don't wanna let my guard down and get taken by surprise when it decides to come back.
Would like to know if anyone has had this IBD Serology 7 test after a long remission and what the results were. Is it possible to be in a remission this long? And can you have IBD as well as IBS? Sorry this is so long, but thanks for any help I can get.
