I have recently had extensive bowel surgery. I have had crones since 1994. I now have osteomylitis (bone infection) in the coxix. I have been taken off crones medication while hitting the infection with heavy antibiotics. I'm about
to go to Bali for 3 weeks and someone said I needed to be vaccinated for typhoid before I go. I have been before without vaccination. Is there a real risk for me this time given I am not on crones meds now?

I think it would be best for you to discuss this with a doctor, Malama.
That said, I hope you have a lovely holiday and that you recover from your infection soon.
Welcome!
Ivy.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke to the doctors and they suggested typhoid and hep a. I went with typhoid and not hep a after hearing the side effects and treatments. I trust I'll be just fine. Thanks again.

I think you can receive killed vaccines, just not live vaccines. Another source would be to talk to your pharmacist. They're good with that stuff too. Have a great trip!

Being off Crohn's meds like antibiotics would be less likely, not more likely, to increase the risk.

I had both Typhoid and Hep A vaccines last year with no probelm. You will want to to do the typhoid injection and not the pill form. The pill form is live virus. Safe travels.
