My 26 year old son has crohns, diagnosed last Nov. 2009.  He has been taking Humira for 8 months,

he has been going to bathroom less but still a lot and nothing firm just runny.  Is their  hope that Humira

could put him in remission after 8 months?  I would think it takes a long time for intestine to heal.

Any happy stories out there.  I pray for all of you, I never new what crohns was or how it affected your lives.

Maybe in his case, they need to add another medication into the Humira mix. Other than the frequent diarrhea, is he having other symtpoms? Welcome to the forum by the way:)

Wow.... we have the exact same stats. I am a 26 year old female that was diagnosed with Crohn's in November of 09 and have been on Humira for about 8 months now too. I was still experiencing the running and sometimes chunky but never solid Poo as well. I just switched to one shot a week instead of every other week about a month and a half ago. I hope it starts kicking in soon!!

Good luck to your son, it is a hard thing to live with.

Is it possible that he has some sort of undiagnosed dietary sensitivity / allergy on top of his Crohn's? That might account for the diarrhoea etc.

Also, when you talk with your doctor, s/he may think it's a good idea to test for gut infections, as these, too, can cause tummy upsets and d.

Hi everyone!! Thank you for your replies. He just went to an allergist last week for the first time, the allergist put him on nexium said he had a
lot of acid which could be part of problem. He has been taking it(nexium) for a week. I did not know an allergist could tell how much acid you have in
your stomach. Is that part of an allergy test? My son has always drank about a gallon of milk a day, when he first went to primary Dr. that
was the first thing the Dr. had him stop drinking. It did not help and thats when he went to GI Dr. My son does not live at home so I can't watch
his diet. Also, his allergist said he was allegic to grass, mold, cat hair, dust; I said to my son did he (the Dr.) check for lactose and wheat? He say's he doesn't know for sure. Isn't that one of the main things an allergist would check especially on someone with crohns? When a Dr. does a lactose test
don't they have to breath into something for the test? Son said he did not breath into anything. I am going to get him to get a list of his allergens.
It hard to run son's life when he's not at home. He seems otherwise healthy except for many trips to restroom. He has always had sinus allergies and

That's right, a breath test can ascertain whether a person has certain dietary sensitivities, and whether a bacterial overgrowth is present.

btw, I appreciate your fervour, but it might be nice if you could tone down the religious references, please? We are not meant to be overly religious on this forum - see the forum rules.

I hope you can both get to the bottom of this.

ps. Stopping milk for no good reason can damage his bones in the long run, so if avoiding milk hasn't helped him, it might be good to ask his doctor whether he can please restart milk.
