Today is my Humira in injection and I had to switch specialty pharmacies and they sent the syringe instead of the pen. I have never used the syringe and a little nervous but still want to be on time with my injections. Do i need to go to the doctor for instruction or once I watch the video on injecting the syringe i should be fine? Any help or experience with the syringe is greatly appreciated.

I would call Humira and speak to a representative for advice. They might just send you the pen instead.

For the syringe you need to pinch the skin as you do for the pen however when you got your initial humira at least I got a packat at how to do the shot either with pen or syringe. I prefer the syringe...1st after removing the cap you need to hold it so the needle is facing the ceiling and gently flick the syringe to get all of the air at the top near the needle...then you wil slowly push the plunger to rid the syringe of the air.
you need to hold it like a pencil when you put the needle in your leg...make sure you have it at a 45 degree angle NOT a 90 like the pen...after it is in your leg you must draw back a little to ensure you are not in a vein after that you can inject the meds ( you do nto need to keep your skin pinches during injection)

Thanks tulip, I sucked it up, watch the video again and it went well - so thank you very much for the suggestions dragonfly. I actually think I prefer the syringe now - it does sting as much as the pen.
