I don't know if I have Crohns or if it is IBD, but have had many symptoms for many years and it's getting worse. Crohns runs in my family. Went to a free clinic on Saturday, they gave me the phone # of a hospital to schedule a Colonoscopy ( gratis, due to my economic situation ), but then was told they don't cover people living in my city. Now what? I need this test done to find out what is causing all these physical issues. I live in Metro Detroit. Does anyone know of any Charitable Organizations who help people like me. Of course, I have no health ins nor job. Thank you.

Have you contacted Social Services at the local hospitals? if they cant help maybe they can direct you.

I do believe that if you are unemployed and you become ill you can get emergency Medi-caid. I live in California and here its called Medi-Cal. I don't know what its called in your state but go to your local human services department and apply. Its worth a shot.

In Mass we have some form of state assisted health care as well, not sure what it is called. Mainly just posting as a bump so that maybe someone in Michigan might see and offer some help.

What City are you in? Wondering if County Health Department (Wayne, Oakland, Macomb)
could be of assistance. I know getting Medicaid is no easy task. My Sister tried and was turned down because quota was reached for the year about a quarter into the year. I had no clue there was a quota, but I guess in our majorly economic depressed area, all Social Services are overwhelmed to capacity of funding.

hi zan, im so sorry to hear that you could not get the test you need . i pray that somehow you get help from someone. here in the uk we have the national health service and most people complain thats its not good enough including myself, but when i see the situation you are in i feel lucky to live in a country were we have it. i couldnt afford to pay for the treatment and meds i need. i really hope you get the test soon and i wish you all the very best. please let us know how you get on.
