First of all I hope everybody is doing OK. In the last 4 days I have been experiencing bloating and pain in my left side of abdomen in the middle. My Crohns is in the TI where I have a permanent stricture of approx. 30 cm, which right now doesn't give me a lot of trouble. So I was very curious why I have this pain on the left side. I'm currently on 45 mg pred, plus salofalk. I have some gas in the morning followed by 1-2 bm's and that's it. I went to my GI yesterday, who was pressing my belly for 20 minutes and finally said that this pain in the left side is probably due to IBS, he said there was a lot of trapped air and at some point it was like my bowel had spasms. If I was a "normal" person" he would say it was 100% IBS, but since I have also Crohn's he said that if the pain doesn't subside in 2-3 weeks, I should get a colonoscopy so he can see if crohns has effected the large bowel as well. He said I could take buscopan for the pain, walk so that I can help trapped gas starting to move, and don't stress.
I'm wondering, 3 months ago when I had a CT scan, the only problem that showed up was the usual one in the TI.
Plus now, I am being paranoid about not having enough gas, although he said not to compare myself with other people, since others eat fruits, veggies, that cause more gas and I'm only eating rice, bread, fish and chicken which do not produce a lot of gas.
So frustrated, if it's not the one thing... it's the other. Finally he said that most probably I will need surgery at one point of my life to remove the stricture, but for the time being he doesn't think it's necessary, it could be in 5 years, nobody knows. He is not willing to start cutting, because he knows it will eventually come back...
What do you think about all this? Could IBS cause pain and bloating on the left side?
Thank you so much in advance, and forgive my poor english....
