...with 3 strangers getting the old mouse antibodies. Not too bad, ARM hurts at IV site. All here seem to think this great stuff. We'll see how it feels later. No benedryl needed.

Why not Humira instead? It's a human antibody - better than the mouse one.

The very short version is.........Remi is a biologic used to turn down the immune system in people with with overactive immune systems that cuase the uncontrolled inflammation present in crohns patients and rhumatoid arthritis.  There are some very recent threads to answer more of your questions on the 1st or second page here about remicade and another about chemotherapy. 

So I was up for 22 hours by the time I got to bed.  Slept for almost 6 hours and so far not feeling too bad.

had my third treatment on friday ,does it make anyone else tired and my joints just hurt

Just because Humira uses human protein does not make it better or worse than remicade. I have been on both and can honestly tell you that remicade was the best for me and actually returned to it for that reason. Everyone metabolizes medications differently and what works well for one crohnie may not work for another. I am happy for you that you were able to get on a tnf inhibitor and wish you good luck. It does take a little while to get the full effect but should get better with each infusion with some noticing effects sooner than others. Why did your doctor choose not to premedicate? I would request a premed of atleast benedryl to help with the side effects and flu like symptoms. If you have any questions about the remicade side effects, I have been on it every 4 weeks for a combined 6 years.

I took remicade for 6 & 1/2 years and for the last 4 years I did not take any premeds at all. Never had any flu-like symptoms. Was so sad when it stopped working. On humira now and it doesn't do very much to help. Would take remicade ANY day over humira. Wish it still worked! Wishing you MUCH success with your infusions!

I was too scared of potential side effects from Remicade and Humira (took both and Humira was better for me). Decided that helminthic therapy was much safer, so I tried that and achieved full remission. See my other thread about it if you want more details.

You know TD, thats a good question.  So good I asked it also.  They like to wait and see IF your are going to need it.  No one else in the room got it either.  They want to see if you will even need it like I said, especially a first timer like me that has no idea if he has any allergies.

I daresay I feel almost normal today.

So as the last 2 days progressed, I felt mildly cold-like and fluish.  But not so bad as I thought it might be.  More disturbing is how my arm has felt.  Which is to say a little off, numb feeling at the crrok of my arm where the IV was.  Is that normal or has anyone else experienced that.

I miss Remicade :(

I am now on Humira and its not bad, and it works great.
But I miss going to my hospital every 8 weeks meeting the great nurses talking to other IBD people and eating good food (yes my hospital has amazing food)

Plus it is not as painful as Humira, sure its suck that they have to put up a IV but usually they get it in one try and then I don't have to do it for another 8 weeks.
