Does anyone know what effects having Crohns with Diabetes will have? I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's and have diabetes for 5 yrs now.  They put me on Pentasa and Entocort EC (but that actually makes the pain worse)  Any help ?

I too have Crohn's and Diabetes...but for me it happened the other way around...Crohns for many many years and then diabetes...my particular Crohns trigger is vegetable fibre...makes for a rotten diet...everything I can't eat for Crohns I should eat for diabetes....

catch 22...

I keep a food diary - and I record how my food and meds make me feel

and I force my Dr to pay attention...cos I know that a goodly part of how I feel has something to do with what I put in me

I'm on large doses of Salofalk (cos that's what seems to work best for me over the long term...and my Crohns is considered in remission at the moment)

there's many types of drugs for both diseases...you have to advocate for yourself...

Thanks for taking time to respond, I was really getting worried that nobody would post.

My diet has not been effected (Yet) by the Crohn's but I do know I have to continue with my carbs every meal, the meds they have me on for Diabetes brings my sugars low so If im not careful I can go too low. Your right with the catch 22....that in turn makes me eat carbs.

I am sorry to hear your troubles, I am borderline diabetic or pre-diabetic, which was induced beings on steroids, increase in cortisol levels increase the chances of blood sugar and blood pressure, and I am on the borderline, on very edge I should say, also I have elevated triglycerides, so far my doc has basically advised workouts and diet, both of which I am very poor at. So, I have to add more pills to my daily diet. I am really worried about the long-run. Because all of these including CD is chronic and it never goes away.

I too have steroid induced diabetes.  I discovered I had both within 3 months of each other.  It takes awhile to figure out what you can and cannot eat.  It took me about a year to get comfortable with my diet. 

I've been able to get totally off all my diabetes medicines but I had started out having to take insulin shots.
