Newly Married to an Empathetic Husband! There is Hope!!!

Some of you may remember my posts about being on prednisone and having a moon face and going on blind dates. Then my profile signature said I was dating online. Well, 8 weeks ago I met the love of my life on match.com and we were married at the Justice of the Peace in my hometown last week.  I moved to Northern Wisconsin 300 miles away and am blissfully happy.

This comes on the heals of being hospitalized in Janurary for Iliteus/Bowl Obstruction and then 5 months of prendisone and 30 pound weight gain. As of yesterday, I've lost 32 pounds!  Good lovin' does that too you!

A week before we got married, I had a flare for a week, I'm not sure if I ate something with wheat or if it was from a cold (usually if there is some inflammation in my body, I have some reaction).  Terrible bloating, gas, D, etc .... being intimate meant more gas, etc.  I had not dated ever when I had flared with Crohn's (for 7 years) so this was new to me ... and I was embarrassed as most of you can probably relate.

He was patient and kind and diplomatic and we made it through it together ... and now onto the honeymoon!

Congrats!! There really are truly caring people out there. I was 24 and single when I got diagnosed, and it's been a rollercoaster with meds and sickness and side effects ever since. Two years ago I met someone (on eharmony) who didn't see all of the pills and shots and doctors appointments, he saw me. I've gained/lost/gained 20lbs and had my skin break out in horrible acne from Humira, and been through two colonoscopies since I've met him, and he's been by my side the entire time. I don't know what I would do without him, and I'm marrying him in 3 weeks!

Congratulations on your new marriage! Enjoy the honeymoon and the fact that you have someone who will be there with you through everything. It's the best feeling in the world!

Zazucat - your story warmed my heart! Wow ... so I don't have the only one .. however, I have the most perfect one for me!

SaraOnThisSite - I'll ask my husband about other free sites as I know he tried some. There are some out there. Have you tried Craigslist? I know that regardless of the site, how you screen candidates is imporant (remember to always use *67 before the number to block your number when calling them so they don't have your number until you know them well). Also important is being a healthy person before delving into a relationship. Then you can communicate in a healthy manner about difficult issues esp about your disease which is not always easy ... and issues that come up as a result.

I had weight to lose even more weight when we met and he loved me at that weight ... I lost 15 pounds in the last 8 weeks and working on 25 more. I thought, boy if he loves me even a little heavy, then he is okay ... and I informed him that if I went on prednisone, I'll most likely gain some weight although it comes off and he is okay with it .... wow!

I hope this is not too personal, but hey, we talk about everything here, right? When it comes to intimacy, we are learning positions during times I'm flaring and feel "vunerable" when I'm gasy or have the urge to have D .. .that is my worse fear that I'll lose control - you know what I mean? Does anyone else have that? I've learned that having unscented baby wipes in the bathroom make sure that I always feel refreshed. Also, we have learned that if I do pass gas during intimate times (pressure on my abdomin), we have learned other positions as I said and to laugh ... if he passes gas, we laugh too ... and talk about it being just natural ... same with burps. I never thought I would laugh at things like this! So liberating. My mother always said that a true lady never passes gas ... but I guess I'll let my new husband determine what a true lady is ... and he thinks I'm one regarless!

We all need to be loved and need romance, it is good for the soul and for the body!!!
