Polyp's found during Colonoscoy

Hi All,

Sorry for not being educated in this but I'm curious and can't find the information anywhere on the internet. I'm hoping that someone will know or direct me to the answer. Last year (Oct 2009) I had a colonoscopy to ensure that carciniod tumor did not return. To my relief it did not return but they removed a polyp which is benign

This month (Oct 2010) I had another follow-up and again this time he removed another polyp. Both times the polyps are small.

My question is, why are polyps growing so fast? Is it due to my crohn's which is mild for the past seven years.

Its more likely that this year's polyp was there last year, smaller, and not seen. They don't see as much and as clearly as you think during a scope. If you've ever had a scope w/o sedation and were awake and alert and watching the scope on the monitor you were seeing what they saw. The scope doesn't have a 360 eye or lens. It can only see where it is pointed.

You're welcome. I just wish the doggone little darlings would just stay away. I've had two different scopes w/a polyp removal too. *sigh* The first one was kinda neat. It actually DID look like a Christmas tree shaped mushroom on a stem. The other one didn't, but maybe it was just the view as my gastro was doing the "snip" cause it just looked like a mound of pink flesh. I liked the mushroom looking one better. It was more interesting and they were both benign.

Haha! I love the descriptions. I recently had two very big polyps (4 cm x 4cm) cut out, while I was only partially sedated, so I saw them cut out with the hot wire! Crazy, but interesting.

Mine were also benign, inflammatory tissue... the doctors were amazed at how big they were! i had some abdominal pain the next day, I'm guessing due to the size of the things, and also the amount of blood that came gushing out as they were cut! owchy!
