Now what?

So it seems I can never catch a break. I'm finally feeling better, to the point where I'm not running to the bathroom every waking hour, which means Pentasa is working (yay!). Then I got a UTI, now it seems I have a kidney stone. Bah...

It's possible the uti has just progressed, but since it's radiating from back to front and it's mostly on one side, makes me lean more towards kidney stone. Pain's not that bad at the moment, nothing I can't deal with, after all it's not my first kidney stone. But if it gets worse or feels different I'll head in to the ER.

How long did it take your Pentasa to 'kick in' ?? I just started taking it today, along with Entocort for now.

Thanks for your well wishes. Pain was bad this morning but it's eased up. I've had kidney stones since I was 17, when I had my first one I thought I was going to die the pain was so bad. Now they're just annoyances. Amazing how pain tolerances change :)

Pam, I've been on Pentasa before so my dr said it wouldn't take as long to start working, in this case I started it on Monday so it took a few days. The first time I was on it it took about a month.

It could be just a kidney infection, which can cause a lot of back pain. Usually pain associated with kidney stones is overwhelming. Are you taking an antibiotic? If the pain goes away after a round of antibiotics, I'd go with kidney infection over a stone.

Oh, and don't ask "what else can go wrong" cuz you'll get an answer....say "NO MORE!"
