The reason for perianal crohn's skin tags is because it's the nature of the disease with having CD...CDcan affect any part of the GI tract from mouth to anus...although, not all CDers get perianal crohn's skin tags, it tends to be more common in the 20%ish of CDers that also have their colon affected with CD and/or their rectom (known as proctitis)....
My crohn's actually started with the perianal crohn's skin tag (back in my teens) with absolutely no other issues or symptoms of CD until after I had my first baby in my early 20's. Back in the day the tags would just come and go on their own, but after having 1st baby they stuck around....they were mistaken for hemmies and were flared so badly I actually went in for an emergency hemmerhoidectomy (they banded them) while in a flared state and as a result they have remained in a flare state indefinitely (this happend 19 yrs ago now)....when in a flared state they should not be messed with at all (as in getting them cut off or banded) since they are diseased tissue and will not heal (if you get them cut of in a flared state they will remain an
open wound unable to heal)...I was told after the fact that had I not gotten the surgery done on them and instead the surgeon diagnosed them properly that likely a script
of rectal meds would have helped shrink them back down (taking them out of the flared state) imagine my heart sinking into my gut after being told that a few months after the un-necessary surgery I had on them....
Tell your hubby to get them checked out and treated with rectal meds to see if it will infact shrink them down....good luck!
BTW, glad to see that spooky posted the link for you that I've often posted here in regards to anal tags, afterall knowledge is power and there's just not enough info on perianal crohn's skin tags out there so it's a pretty good link which at least shows the difference between what hemmies and perianal crohn's skin tags look like (just still not enough info on the tags).
