What are your symptoms of an obstruction?

Yesterday (Tuesday) I was having D but it was in very small amounts and I visited the bathroom 6 times. However, today is the complete opposite. I haven't been able to have a BM in 24 hrs. I'm not really having any pain, more than my normal at least. I threw up, again, this morning but this time there was food and had Pentasa bits in it (not my normal). I've only passed gas once today and haven't had much of an appetite.

I'm worried and don't know what to think. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are probably partially obstructed. I'd stay on liquids and see what happens over the next 24 hours or so. :-)

Symptoms of an obstruction are pain that comes in waves much like labor pains, a very bloated stomach, no passing of air or stool out of either direction, and within time nausea and vomiting start.

Sometimes when I have alot of diarrhea one day, my bowels won't move the next day because they are pretty empty. I would try to stay on a liquidy diet for the day and see if it passes. If the pain gets to be too much, go to the ER. Hugs!

My symptoms were severe pain, nausea/vomiting, no gas/no stool. I'd recommend calling your doctor for guidance.

Thanks for your input guys! I've had bm's since last night thank goodness. First one was hard and the next one was D. I was worried but I feel better now, my only guess was it was a partial obstruction. I'm calling my dr today to let them know and see what they suggest.

I've had 2 major ones, both times had to have surgery to remove small bowel that was obstucted, definatly you had partial obstuc. full on obstuc, is beyond painful, you would have known if it was full blown, because you would have had to have strong pain shots in hosp. I was on demerol every 2hr's, until they operated. they can de dangerous if perforates.

I have had many obstructions and every single time they require emergency hospitalization. It is an understatement to say they are painful. It sounds like you are having an issue of some sort and you should talk to you Dr but it doesn't sound like an obstruction.
