I was having some bloating, nausea problems several months ago. We couldn't be sure or determine whether it was due to aerophagia (air swallowing) from bi-level PAP use, bacterial overgrowth due to the partial obstruction at my old anastomosis or GERD due to a mild sliding hiatal hernia and bi-level PAP use. My family doctor referred me to a new gastro (I asked to try a different one) and I had an upper endoscopy which showed some mild inflammation, biopsies negative. So the gastro script
ed Dexilant, my family doctor script
ed the Amoxicillin for bacterial overgrowth which has worked for me before and I stopped the bi-level PAP use for a while then resumed at lower pressures and worked my way back up to auto-titrated pressure.
Yesterday was my 3 month follow up w/this new gastro. I so HATE well visits. I've been doing great since the 3 "treatments" we did.
So naturally, this morning some nasty little gnome is running thru my mid-abdomen slashing w/a razor blade.
Of course, some of this is because I dropped my Pentasa from 4 gms a day to 2 gms a day which I sometimes do thru the years and can get away w/for 3-4 months. (I know, moi bad). So .... back up to 4 gms a day of Pentasa from the 2 gms I've been taking.
*sigh* Imuran can't quite keep me in remission w/o the full dose of Pentasa and Pentasa, even at full dose, can't quite cut the mustard w/o the Imuran. (I never fudge on the Imuran dosage).
So nothing serious. I'll be fine in a few days. It is just the irony of the dang timing of these doggone time and money wasting well visits and symptoms starting w/in a few days of any well-visit.
And, of course, the fact that I bring these little spells on myself by dropping the Pentasa dosage is irritating. But the vacation from so darn many pills a day for so darn many years kinda makes it worthwhile. Or at least has so far.
Nothing like pushing your luck for sheer stupidity!
Ah, well, nothing like a few minor reminders to help me feel that I still belong here given my prolonged (for which I am VERY GRATEFUL) remission and/or symptomatic remission.
