Hello All, new here. Daughter has Crohn's, she is 14. Overwhelming to be making huge decisions for someone else, so I am constantly researching for her. She has been on Remicade for over a year now. No major problems with the meds. First few infusions were like a miracle! She could eat anything she wanted. Seems to have lost some of it's power now. We never had problems with her veins before, but now the past 2 times her veins keep "blowing". Time before last her hand puffed up and bruised so bad. I thought the nurse just wasn't very good at it. This last time she had 6 needle sticks and 5 veins blow. It was so bad. She was wrapped with warm towels, I can't believe she didn't cry! I wanted to. They finally gave her infusion in the wrist which was very uncomfortable.
Has anyone on here had this issue after starting the infusion? And is it very common to do a port with Remicade? She goes every 7 weeks for infusions, so I didn't think they'd do one but I'm nervous about the next infusion and how her veins will hold up. Thanks for any insight! :)
