Yes, I had the works at the hosptial, including scope and CT. I saw my GI again today and he repeated that crohn's sometimes just goes away. He explained that the immune response is overactive when we are young and, as we get older, the immune system weakens and stop overreacting. I'm not trying to sell anyone on this. I was just asking if anyone else had heard it. I have a colon that is shaped like an M and extensive adhesions all over my abdomen. Future scopes are risky, at best, so I accept the fact that when something goes wrong, only the surgeon will know for sure when he opens me up. I survived to 59 and intend to live alot longer. Thirty eight years ago we were patted on the head and told if we could just relax and not get so upset, we would be fine. I am glad that research has proven this disease is not "all in our heads." If maintenance meds work, take them!

I don think I will ever go meds free, I dont think it is a good idea for any crohnie to be totally off the meds, as previous replies it usually ends up worse and drastic measures then..... I know pesonally I was on Pentasa, not that I thought it actually did anything, ended up having flare after flare and have been on steroids numerous times.As soon as I taper down the steroids the flare comes back with avengeance.Now on Humira injections to try and get off the steroids, and touch wood have been off the steroids for over a month atm!
I still dont have a day go by where I'm not in some sort of pain though, but only the loading dose of Humira has been had atm, so hopefully things will calm down after a few more shots.
My advice stay on the meds to help remission, as some one said it doesnt go away or disappear, once a crohnie always a crohnie.
