without a face

 There is something special about this place. I dont know if you have noticed. Faces are not needed . Appearances are not judged. We are all spirits communing in the truest form. It is of no matter what we are wearing, if we have hair that is long or short, or if we have hair at all. It matters not if we are unshaven or lacking what some deem appealing features . We all have the beauty of a common thread that binds us . We bring our frailties as well as our strengths . We come to teach as well as to learn. To support as well as for support . To listen as well as to be heard . We meet as strangers but become more than friends . Though we are ill we have very special gifts. Humanity ,compassion and dignity . I for one am very proud of this and if my illness is the cost , then so be it , for I would rather have found you than to have lived and worked amid most others I have known before I was ill and came here. I know now that it is true , that when a door closes , a widow opens .

I totally agree. I am not really a people person, prefer to be with my family or alone, so I don't go out much, but I always seem to check in here at least once a day, usually more, just to see how my crohn's family is doing. Each time someone new chimes in they are welcomed with open arms and embraced as new members of the family.

If you have been lurking for a while, please come in and introduce yourselves! I lurked for about 3 months before I jumped in and am so glad I did!

Thanks, Sniper. Once again... You have such a way of putting things. I too feel thankful for what I've learned from this DD, emotionally and mentally! Thanks to everyone...

Well said sniper! Isn't it good sometimes to not have to worry about what you look like (or how you smell...hehe) and interact with people.

I consider you all Crohn's family, and I appreciate you all!

And you wonder why I admire you? Why everyone appreciates you here? What the hell will we do if they cure this DD? I suppose we could all meet every year with the money we would save on toilet paper and water?

Funguy, if they cure this DD I would like to trvl more and meet you guys in person. But then you would have this ugly picture to put on my name from then on. Eeeeewwww.

Beautifully put Sniper. This is a fab place and even though I am not directly affected everyone's support and advice is always given freely. As many will know after a diagnosis you are completely in the dark and can't see yourself coming through it.Yes you learn about the good and bad, highs and lows but ultimately you learn that this disease can be lived with and it is not totally the end of the world.
