Hello Everyone, Shortly after I wrote telling everyone how I did getting the Remicaid I started haveing belly pain. It felt like a burning type pain and it started to really hurt. I took tylenol and tryed to relax in hopes it would go away. I started to feel abound my belly where it was hurting and felt a very hard mass (it was in the area of the gallbladder). To make a long story short, I ended up having to go all the way to the hospital last night around 11 something. I got there and they took me right to the back. I explained to the doctor what the pain felt like and then told her to feel the hard mass. I think she didn't believe that I knew what I was talking about
because as soon as she felt it she looked shocked and said she was scheduling me for a CT scan, xray, and sono. They took blood work and put the IV in as I sat and drank the contrast. They gave me something because I felt nausous after drinking the first contrast then she came back in and asked did I want morphine for the pain (I declined because I'm scared of taking any of those type of pain medications). Then the nurse game in and said they were going to give me pepsid and some fluids (sorry for all the mispelled words). The strange thing is shortly after receiving the pepsid the pain started to go away and eventually stopped all together. My husband went to tell the doctor and she came back in to feel my stomach and was shocked because although we felt something it wasn't as bad and big as when I first got there. I went for my CT scan and as soon as I got back into the room she came in and said they are going to do a sono because they took a look at the CT scan and my gallbladder looked huge. They did the sono and measured it, It was really big according to them but they didn't see any stones and it measured 9.4 which they said is still in the normal range (I believe she said anything over 10 wouldn't have been good). She said we had to wait for the report from the radiologist and see what the CT scan looked like. I driffted off to sleep and the next thing I knew she came back in my room and told my husband and I we could go home. She said the CT scan showed my gallbladder was big but no infection or stones and it still was in the normal range (same thing they said after sono) she said they compared CT scan from one I had a month agp and everything looked exactly the same except my gallbladder was big. A couple of months ago when I had a CT scan my liver was showing to be enlarged and still is but my blood work for my liver is low (below the normal range). She told me to tell my GI doctor and I told her I did but they werent concerned because the numbers werent high. She said to mention it to them again because it is something that should be watched. I asked her if the Remicaid could have made my gallbladder enlarged and she said she has never heard of that happening but the strange thing is that it was fine before the infusion. I don't know what to think anymore, I am getting very nervous because now my liver and gallbladder is enlarged and they don't seem to have any answers. My stomach doesn't hurt like it did last night but feels sore as if I was in a fight or something. She just told me to take pepsid and tylenol since it seemed to helped me there but she looked very confused about
everything.
Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? Why is my liver enlarged but the numbers from the blood work are below the normal range and my gallbladder became enlarged all of a sudden (and could it go back to normal)?
