Hi All!

I am very curious as to who gets the flu shot every year.

I get it yearly as I am always told to, but for some reason I am hesitant this year.  I am trying to find a good site that talks about side effects, statistics etc.

Any feedback is very appreciated, THANKS!

I have been getting flue shots every year for the past 10 years and had no symptoms at all. I've had crohn's since 02 and taking pentasa with entocort. Don't be afraid to take it, it's very helpful.

I get a letter from my PCP every year saying I am a priority patient and should think about getting the flu shot. I was never really sure if I should. My mother works for a pediatrician so she asked if she recommended that I get one as well and she said that she agreed 100% with my PCP and felt anyone with an autoimmune disease should get one to be safe. So I asked if she got one and if her three children get them. Her entire family does. I trust her a lot so if she has her kids get it then I feel safe getting it for myself. So I will be getting one again this year.

If you're immunosuppressed, it's always a good idea to get one.

I actually got one this year for the first time in I don't know how long, worked the rest of the nigh and have had no other issues.

BDA,Hi how r u doing? Well I just wanted 2 let u know that I get my flu shot ever year I never miss it,,after all we r on enough meds that already suppress our immune systems,,we don't need 2 pick a viral/bacterial infection cause we would get it way worse than the regular Joe @ least that is what I was told anyways..Good Luck... ~Jen~

I get the flu shot every single year. I have not had the flu or been sick in years. Hopefully now that I said that, I don't get sick. I have already had my flu shot this year. Hugs!

I got it for the first time in years, this year. Arm hurt a bit for about a week but that is it

I have had the flu shot the last two years on the advice of my GI. Pharmacist and flu clinic even said I could have it on the same day as my MTX shot. No side effects. Both years the flu clinic have asked and recommended I get a pneumonia shot as well as I am eligible because of the immunosuppressant I am on. Have delcined but will ask My GI and wonder if others get the pneuomia shot as well?

I unfortunately ended up in a flare, likely not because of the flu shot...however now makes me a lttle worried.

I have been getting the flu shot every year for years. I am a kindergarten teacher, and so I spend my day with all kinds of bodily fluids!! I have been told by every doctor, pharmacist and nurse to get it. Not just for me but for others around me. I have been very lucky (touch wood/fingers crossed etc.) to have had no flus or bad colds since I have been doing the flu shot.

I think that if your doctor is recommending it I would go for it. There are cases in which it is not recommended, but if they have given you the go-ahead I would do it.

I have been getting my flu vaccine each year and this year it was recommended to get my pneumovax vaccation as well, generally older people would get this vaccine, or those whom smoke, or in my case having a low immune. I am on Humira and being the vaccines are a dead virus it was in the best interest. Good luck!

I never got a flu shot prior to my CD diagnosis and starting Remicade. My primary care doctor insisted last year and this year they were offered for free through my employer. I don't mind so much, but my kids aren't thrilled that they have to get a shot since I'm not supposed to be around anyone who has had the flu mist.

I've gotten flu shots for years and have never had any problems. Never had the flu, either.
