The process of digestion and absorption of foods is a very interesting one:
1) Between meals take digestive enzymes so they settle in your stomach. I take Pregest and GNC Syperdigestive Enzymes(very cheap). I take two in mid morning, then two in mid afternoon. In the products lookfor Amytase, Protease, Lipase, Bromelain, Papain, Cellulase. Just like Probiotics, you can go from $12 to $50 and in many cases two tables of the cheaper will more than work than the expensive ones.
2) I eat about
4 meals a day, smaller meals make digestion easier.
3) I start out with a small cup of broth, the hot liquids signals the tract that food is coming...this by far is my biggest aid.
4) When I eat, I chew throroughly, this releases salivary enzymes into the system.
5) If possible, it is best to walk off lunch (restaurants are about
half a mile away) and evening meal.
6) I also rotate probiotics: Live yogurt 3 times a day, Jarrows, Primal Defense and VSL 3(very expensive) on different days.
Enzymes are part of the picture, how you chew, the frequency of meals, and mild walking are all part of the digestion process.
