Painful Fistulas

Hi all,

I suffer from anal fistulas and recently they have come back with a vengeance. It is so uncomfortable to sit and at times even walk. I tried to call my GI this morning but so far no one has gotten back to me. Any suggestions on how to alleviate some of my discomfort? I work as a police officer so I have to be careful what pain medication I take during the day. My biggest fear is that because Thanksgiving is so close that I'm not going to be able to even see my GI. I am just so frustrated right now!

I think they are connected to another organ but I cannot remember for sure. Yes, I take 1000mg of Canasa but this weekend the pain has gotten considerably worse. the area is hard and warm to the touch.

I had an abscess to an anal fistula back in 1982 lthat was not treated aggressively, ended up with in surgery three months later.

The sooner you attack this thing with a Proctologist (A "rear Admiral"), the better, there are so many more effective medications today.

A normal GI doctor started with this and didn't get far...

I know this is a little late, but if the area ia hard and warm and you have had a history of fistulas/abcess's then you most def. want to tell the receptionist that you have a abcess. Most Gi Doctors will tell you to go to the ER, unless you are directly working with a surgeon.
