swallowing my first 6mp

I took the leap and just swallowed my first 6mp. My plan is that I won't have any side effects (especially immediate rashes etc like there was with azathioprine) and that in a few months it will start kicking butt on my crohns :)
After such a messy head in medication decision-making I think taking the first pill is the hardest, and hopefully my mind and body go with it from here!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and encouragement as I decided.

If you should get any nausea from this pill, take the next day at night.  I hate some side effects when I started it in the morning and I switched to bedtime and those side effects went away.  Good luck, I hope it works well for you!

Thanks Nanners, good suggestion - I'll keep it in mind if I get nausea.

How did it go? I also find that Zofran helps with nausea. Phenergan is another, cheaper alternative. Stay hydrated... And, most of all, good luck and I hope it works and kicks your Crohn's exactly as you say! ;-)

As far as we could see, my daughter had no side effects from 6mp. I think the worst of it was trying to get her to take her pill everyday! Alas, the 6mp wasn't cooperating and now she is on Remi. Good luck and as stated, stay hydrated!

Yesterday went pretty well, but then starting last night I was feeling crappy - aching joints, very slight fever, this morning feel a bit blah. My hands are sore, and I feel yucky. Not sure if it is related to 6mp or more related to crohns and a crappy sleep. No rash, so I have swallowed another one this morning and I'm off to work to see how it goes...fingers crossed...

Great! That sounds like a good start. Sometimes people have no adverse reactions. And, sometimes even when people do have a bad reaction, it will wear off. In my case, the nausea is very strong and hits right away and lingers. So, it sounds like you are off to a good start! I think you'll know over a few days if the yucky feeling is related to the 6mp or not. And, it might wear off anyway. No matter what, if you find something is seeming related, keep in touch with your doctor about it. That was you will know what to worry about what to just "forget" about (ha - as if it's that easy) about!

I could not imuran but 6pm was ok for me till I went to humors. Hope it works for you like they say we all react differently
