First Remicade Treatment

Just wanted everyone to know my first Remicade treatment was approximately 2 hours and totally uneventful.  Would like to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers.  I will continue to keep you posted.  Next treatment on 12/29.

Im happy it went well for you. It is a bit uneventful for my daughter...she zonks out. They give her drinks and snacks. We even get a tv/vcr to watch tapes, but we never get that far because the benedryl kicks in.

This week she has three bruises cause the nurse had trouble finding a vein....hate when that happens.

I know just how scared you are and I still am.  Have you had any surgeries?  What meds are you on?  All I can say the infusion was like a piece of cake, thank G-d and I know it will be the same for you.  I've been diagnosed with Crohns for over 30 years and have been on and off meds but in July 2010 it finally blossomed where I needed 2

blood transfusions and was hospitalized for 8 days.  Prednisone, Imuran, etc.  The Imuran made my liver enzymes go nuts.  My doctor wanted me to go on Remicade from the get go but I was resistant.  Now I'm in a wait and see mode.  Next scheduled infusion is December 29th.  Lots of prayers for you.

I'm currently taking prednisone (27,5 mg), imuran (75 mg) and pentacol (2400 mg); I'm on a strict diet, a sort of scd, but I avoid also red meat and try to take bananas and some nuts; I'm going not too bad but I'd like to eat everything. unfortunately I am sure that many foods (grains, cheeses and so on) make me feel much more sick, but am not so confident I will get remission anytime. so the doctor want to put me on remicade.
I hope remicade won't give me any of that long-term side effects I read somewhere, I'm very scared, and I hope I'll be on that 33% of people who keep a remission and perhaps I'll be able to eat everything a day. the food thing is the craziest and saddest part of the story, but I'm afraid to be forced to have a colostomy if the disease will continue in this way as it affects my rectum and my colon I think very badly.

I'm currently taking prilosec 1 x daily, zyrtec, xanax .25 2 x daily, asacol 500 mg (2) 2 x daily, 4000 mcg Vit D, 100 mg CoQ10, 1500 calcium, 5000 mcg Biotin, Omega 3 Fish Oil, DHEA 500 mg, Mushroom complex, Folic Acid 1mg, B-12 Injection 1 1/2 cc montyhkly, Vit K 90 mcg, zinc, Calcium & Magnesium, Vita Life Liquid Vitamins

Feeling really good since infusion yesterdfay and bowels are more formed than usual.
