The funny part of this post is that I thought of it whilst having a sit in a discount store toilet. It was the second time in a couple of days that I had to use questionable public facilities. Questionable on the quality and the location in the store I was in. The one today was in an out of the way location in the store back around the corner in an alcove sort of thing. It's a shame a woman out alone has to think of safety when she's using the public toilet. This one actually had a lockable outer door so I locked it til I was done. The "crap" we have to put up with huh?

So that leads to my question, what is the scariest, dirtiest, nastiest public restroom you've ever had to use?

Long before my diagnosis, but with a bad case of traveler's diarrhea. Outdoor movie theatre in very very rural Turkey. Ladies Room basically a place to squat over a hole, and the innumerable people who'd used it before had all had obvious aim problems. No paper, of course. Nothing will ever top that one of the Worst Bathrooms of All Time list!

Ahh, the ole "squat n drop". Hate to say it but I have seen way too many "a**plosions" in public restrooms. They can't all be crohnies.

one time around midnight an I-70 restroom coming home from an ER trip (being a former leo I know the history of I-70 and was not unarmed), and as I walked out of the stall there was a guy leaning up against the sinks, now I am six feet tall and not a thin lady (to give you an idea I played rugby in my undergrads), not exactly an optimal target, but clearly I was sick ... I got lucky, definately got the feeling if I had been a less then the amazon that I would have had a problem.

This summer on a road trip (on I-70!) I stopped at one road-side bathroom that made me think of the movie Trainspotting. I touched as little as I could...

I think that "normal" people's scariest toilet stories might be about being in the stall next to a CD'er!!!!!

Squat toilets in Hong Kong.

Also, toilets full of used needles and spilled blood and the occasional drugged up junkie - scary.

I used a airport hotel, I was desperate and rushed in without looking at the cleanliness. Well yuk. When I got up I had someone elses poo all over my bum, back and legs. I was horrified. Imagine someone leaving the loo in that state. I was nearly sick, I rushed out to the sink, I took off my clothes and started washing, I got some strange looks I can tell you. It had even got on my clothes. Lucky for me my partner had just got my case off the carosel so I was able to change. But I fet disgusting until I could get home and shower. Never I again will I sit on the loo without looking first

My hubby has Crohn's Disease and we agree...there are a lot of gross places to go to use the bathroom. Sometimes even a farm field is a better place to go...away from the roadway of course!
