Crohns back

I have been fighting this since  1983....one Dr diagoses me with it...then the next say not...Roller Coaster ride...well got were I was just trying to live with it...Dec 20 wham woke up in the worse pain ever....so rushed to ER had exploratory surgery due to MRI looking like a knot...but Small colon was so inflamed it was swollen shut and even blood flow was cut off....didn't do any cutting just put me on high doses of flagy, predisone....in Hospital for 5 days..... I have battle this for so many years just dont know how much more I can do....Will see my GI Tues...support , encourage advice  all needed..

NO I'm  home...will see  primary Dr and surgeon Monday then will see G I Tuesday and find out the game plan...have had so  many u have it u dont have it..just wonder...but guess the surgury was a blessing the said U HAVE Cohns..they did a strike out series of test......just want a reasonable like....this beening home bound sucks...Do people get Handicap parking permits with this...closer to restrooms....so don't have so far to run....thanks

 

So sorry to hear you are suffering so, but at least you finally have the confirmation of whats wrong and can get some kind of treatment started to get you feeling better. Be sure to stay on your meds even when you are feeling better, so you don't have a repeat.

I have a handicap placard, but mine was issued because I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis bad in both knees, not for my Crohns. You might ask your doc if he will give you one. Print off the form from your states dept of motor vehicles and take it into your doc visit for him to complete his part. Good luck!

Handicap placards requirements vary by state. So it depends. I have one because I have a hard time walking.

Thanks artist guy, it is not as bad as it once was, post surgery and when I was having those lupus issues. (Talk about trying to walk thru chest deep snow after your feet have been beaten.) It does still bother me daily, but at least it has been awhile since I fainted from the pain. I still feel bad when I do have to use it (because to me it should be old people and wheel chair bound people, but as my doctor said it is for those who cannot walk and it is still difficult for me to walk), but most especially on a college campus it is helpful, because there is no way I could walk a mile to class.

I think talking to your doctor is the way to go. Like Nanners said you can print off the form from your state DMV website and take it to your doctor.

I have a permanent handicap plate because of Crohn's. I got it during my first flare when I ended up with arthritis in my hip and was constantly doubled over in pain. I haven't used it since then (7 years ago) but it's permanent, so it's still there if I need it. I rarely used it, but it was a lifesaver when I did.
