Had pillcam now scheduled for colonoscopy, but having blood clots in my hand

I have finally come to terms with moving ahead with the colonoscopy. I had the pill cam done but it wwas hard for the doc to see much in the way of sores since I am on the asacol and entocort. But he did see some suspicious places and wants to do biopsies and see if he can get the microscopic evidence I need for a diagnosis. I may end up being too late for my SSA 60 day window to offer more evidence, but if so I will just start over. The Asacol and entocort have helped and I am using pepto often. I spent last weekend in the hospital for sever pain and nausea and got it under control with phenergen then morphine. But then this past week I have had a couple blood clots in my hand. It took 3 IVs to get one that would not calapse. I need to ask the doc about this on Monday, as I would need to stop the asprin the other doc wants me on for the clot. I have had blood clots before when I was first in the hospital, in my neck from my pic line. Its a little scary. The doc that looked at my blood clots wants me to see if I have a clotting disorder with a hemotologist. So, its been an eventful couple of weeks. Well if you DO have Crohns, that aspirin and pepto might not be your friends, and they themselves can cause bleeding episodes. They could also cause irritation in the intestines too. I hope the find the answer to whats going on with you. Hugs!

Tomorrow is the colonascopy...UGGGG!!!! terrified! No fod for me today and I am grouchy.

For my scope, I had to be off any blood thinners (inc. aspirin) for two weeks prior. They don't want to do a biopsy and have you bleed out. Did your scope instructions say anything about that?

They said it was ok to take the 81 mg only so I have. The doctors here are not that great. I will remind him that I clot tomorrow. I have had to take valium today just to get over the anxiety of it all. The one doc says he thinks I should try Imuran..Not sure how to spell it??? Any thoughts?

LesaJT - I hope your scope went well!! I have two blood clotting disorders and have had multiple episodes of clots (DVTs and PEs). I would talk to a hematologist if you have EVER had a clot and get it determined why you have had two clotting episodes. An IV alone should not cause clots in a person with no predisposition to it. Also, if you have EVER had clots, an aspirin regimine is not usually the treatment; it's usually Coumadin as it is more powerful (and easier on your digestive system.) Clots are very dangerous, no matter where they are in the body. And, as much as I hate to say this on a Crohn's forum...for me, sometimes the Crohn's takes a back seat to the clotting disorders. Clots can kill me in a matter of days/sometimes hours...Crohn's related symptoms can take much longer than that. :)

I hope you get it figured out!!! It's scary to not know what's going on with your body!!
