I have almost-constant rectal pain. I've also been getting twinges of pain in my vagina. Are there nerves in the rectum that hit the vagina that could be causing this? I can't have sex because it's painful (poor hubby). My GI didn't see any fistulas on Friday, but could they be there without being visible in a scope? I haven't noticed any discharge or gas from the vagina. If I do have a fistula, would Cimzia help with that?

I am not sure about nerves being in the rectum but I had the same thing with my rectal fistula. This was also my clue that i had abscesses in the vaginal/rectal area. Do you feel any hard knots in the painful area? Also, I was put on cimzia and it has helped tremendously with my fistulas. Good Luck!

Yes, you could have a fistula(s) that your doctor didn't see. They can be very hard to see. I would suggest doing an mri. They give better images than a ct for fistulas.

Another thing...you could have an abscess. When I had a rectal one, it was constant pain. Mine was deep and you couldn't see or feel it from the outside.

I had hubby feel around (sorry TMI) and he felt a warm knot right where it was hurting. :/ How do they check for abscesses? Since I'm starting Cimzia soon anyway, should I even worry about it?

A ct scan will show abscesses. But if your husband felt it, than more than likely you do have one. If you do have one, you will need to have a good colo-rectal surgeon surgically drain it.
