Ok, right now I have huge amount of pain in the epi.gastric region, and I'm pretty certain that it's my pancreas.
I can also feel a slight mass a little left of center. I'm watching my grand children right now so I can't go anywhere.
BUT I'm so scared this is the start of another pancreatitis attack. Anyone want to talk me through this, I'm getting
pretty panicky, because that pain is the worst pain ever. (Not at that stage yet)!!!!!

I'm so sorry. There's not a lot more I can say apart from the fact that I'm going thru a lot of sympathy pain atm. Codeine and pred helped a bit but my stomach is still distended and the bugger refuses to go down. Hang in there. Hugs

Sending you hugs. I've been there, sort of and its not fun. I watch a friends kids and more times than I care to remember I have watched them while in the middle of a blockage. Not much that can be done but wait for someone to come home to relieve you so you can either rest or get to an ER. Take care and let us know how you are doing.

Will do. right now I'm a little scared! my last pancreatic attack was severe and extremely painful.
I've had several obstructions but pancreatic pain beats that easily. Hugs Zanne.

((((Vicky)))). Hopefully you can get someone to come relieve you of childcare quickly. Is there anything you can do to try to ward off the pancreatic attack? Any meds or diet you can follow to try and keep it from getting worse until you can talk to your doctor? Maybe just go on clear liquids? I hope you have some pain meds you can take at hand.
I hope it passes without getting worse. But remember, if it is severe, you've been through it before, and you have survived. This too shall pass, and you will pull through it.
Maybe you can talk to your doctor about
this. I read this on the mayo clinic website:
Your doctor may recommend medications to control your pain and may refer you to a pain specialist. Severe pain may be relieved with surgery to block nerves that send pain signals from the pancreas to the brain.
Maybe this is something you can look into for the future.
(((hugs)))

Pv, I have vicodin for pain, which is not really touching it. I haven't/can't eat, which is probably
for the best, apart from the fluids of course. I'm even taking my enzyme tablets without eating
hoping that may take some of the obvious inflammation. (I can feel it in my upper stomach, just
by touching).
I'm probably being stupid not going to the ER, but, for some reason as soon as they start treating
my pain, I start throwing up. Something I've done on the last two visits. Don't know why, but every
thing they put in the IV starts a vomiting fit. So I'll try toughing it out here, but if things get any worse
then I'll have to go.
Thanks for your concern and info. BTW I hope your husband is OK right now. (((hugs)))

Oh gosh Vicky! My hubby is in way better shape than you right now. I wish I knew something that would make you feel better. Maybe you can just go to the ER and ask for Dilaudid? I know that's easier said than done, but perhaps you can call your doctor or the oncall on staff and see if they'll be able to talk to the ER doc to start you on Dilaudid. That's the only idea I've come up with so far.
Hugs

I don't know if this is ladies thread, but my wife is suffering with sluggish gall bladder, tremendous pain in your area, curious, don't mean to butt in

No not a ladies thread. I have chronic pancreatitis, due to damage caused from 2 severe acute
pancreatitis attacks brought on by 6mp. From time to time my pancreas flares badly and causes
lots of pain, this is one of those times, plus my CD is active also. Pleas butt in, I find it comforting
to have people talking to me.
Pv, dilaudid is the med they usually give me, as morphine can cause more problems to the pancreas,
but like I said for some reason it makes me vomit.
I talked to PC and she told me to carry on taking the digestive enzymes, even though I'm not eating.
She's says it might rest the pancreas enough to get me through.
I will go if this stupid pain doesn't improve.
Thanks so much, this really does help me. I'm on my own as my husband works the night shift, so
you guys are much needed. Bless you!!!

If you do need to go to the ER can you have them give you some IV anti nausea meds a few minutes before the pain meds? Something like Zofran. Its pretty powerful stuff. I hate to think of you suffering if there is a way for you to have some relief. Also do you have anyone near by who can be with you or get you to the hospital if needed? Worried here.

My son lives nearby if I need him. I've already called to let him know I might need him.
Don't worry Zanne I'll be OK and I will go to the ER if I can't handle anymore.
You're a special girl, thanks for being here. (((hugs)))

You take care and I will be checking in the morning to see how you are, so you make sure to keep posting! Don't try to be too heroic and tough it out if it gets to be too much. I'm glad your son is nearby and that he is on stand by, you are very much like me. I do the same thing. Tough it out as long as I can, but have my plan in place, just in case. You are too important to all of us to take chances lady! Try to get some rest tonight. (((((((BIG HUGS)))))

Still at home. The pain is less and the swelling has gone down somewhat. I didn't eat or drink
yesterday, so today I will slowly introduce stuff and see what happens...

I'm glad things are slightly better, but don't push it. Clear liquids for a day or so won't kill you and it may give things a chance to settle down. Bump it up to full liquids and see how that goes. Just don't push things and you may be able to ride it out at home, always my first choice.

Oh goodness Vicki that sounded awful. I agree with Zanne that taking anti nausea med before the Dialudid to help avoid the pukies. I get pukey on Morphine, and it actually doesn't last very long for me. But the Dialudid works well.
Also sticking maybe with full liquids today will help some too. Sending prayers your way and big hugs too!

Thanks Gail. it does seem as the day progress the pain is getting worse. So I'm not sure what is
gonna happen. I don't think this is going to give in on it's own!
Thanks for the tip on anti nausea drugs first. I will remember that if needed:(

Well you get yourself to the ER if it gets any worse. No need for you to suffer so. Gentle hugs!

Vicky, maybe you should just get yourself to the ER. The tip about
zofran is a good one. It worked really well for my hubby when he had stomach flu. If you can control the nausea, the dilaudid according to my hubby is a great pain killer. I am so sorry you are in pain. ((Hugs)).
