First of all I am surprised at the amount of support listed for Crohns, I see now why my dr thought I should start here at home over looking thru the yellow pages..btw, nothing found there. :/ Where to begin? Dx'd in '98, have it mainly in my terminal ileum, had only 3 bowel resections, and various illnesses secondary to crohns. Busted my tailbone so I assume that's what caused it to show itself. I'm very empathic & sympathic to anyone dealing with physical/emotional pain, which seems to make mine worse for the constant worrying about others, kind of a vicious cycle. Anyway, I hope I can contribute to this forum & bring comfort/smiles, encouragement & my personal experiences to help anyone dealing w/this complex, complicated disease. I'm new to asking for help or actually talking about crohns to anyone but my dr, thank you HealingWell & community for being here. :-)

Yes, it can be hard to talk about Crohn's in real life, but, as you'll see, there aren't many taboo or shocking topics here :-). I hope you'll find a lot of support and friendship here.

Hi. Welcome to healingwell. Boy, do I understand what you mean about empathy. When my husband gets sick, I have to try so hard to not get really depressed because I feel so much empathy and sympathy for him. It is almost debilitating for me! I don't have crohn's disease, I am just a care giver for my husband, but I've had to learn about this disease to be the best patient advocate I can be for him.

My husband tells me I suffer more than he does when he's sick. He says when he's sick, he just kinda manages, and sometimes the pain meds (especially dilaudid in the hospital) really just makes the day much nicer for him. Of course no such pain meds for me - I look at him start to cramp up and I can't help but cry.

JDee, your doctor sounds like a "lovely" person, LOL. Yellow pages! heh. Glad you found the forum, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you. You sound like someone with a great outlook on life.
