Diarrhea caused by Methatrexate?

We started my son on Methatrexate on Friday and since then he has had diarrhea every day.  Not severe, but he NEVER had it before starting the meds.  Is this something normal or something I should be worried about?

Oh, he is taking the meds by shot, not orally in case it makes a difference.

Thanks for any thoughts on this,

My son's disease presentation is severe constipation, perianal disease, moderate belly pain and growth failure. He has not had diarrhea as a symptom so far. I don't know if your son's CD give him diarrhea so I thought I'd mention that my son doesn't normally have diarrhea.

My son has been on oral Methotrexate for about 2 years now. He has not had diarrhea on Methotrexate - ever that I am aware of.

Diarrhea is listed as a side effect for Methotrexate along with nausea and vomiting.

If it's lasted for several days I'd call the doctor and let them know.

The first 3 days after I did my 1st MTX injection I had diarrhea also - mine cleared up after the 3rd day and still occasionally I will get it the day after I do my shot (within 8-10 hours after doing the shot).

I just figured it was a side effect :) Maybe call the dr if it doesn't clear up :)

The first time I tried mtx (only for 4 weeks) I felt like my D got worse too. The second time I didn't notice that happening and I was on it 6 months.
