DOSAGE AMOUNT of REMICADE?

Hello.  I started back on REMICADE a couple months ago.  This is my second go around of Remicade in 4 years.  My doc has already INCREASED my dosage after the inital loading phase from the 500cc per kilo to 700cc.  He;s thinking of going as high as 900 if I don't start feeling better in the next couple of months.  Has anyone else here gone as high as 900?  if not what dosage were/are you on?  Appreciate the feedback, thank you!

Hi there. I started at 5 mg per it am now at 7.5 mg per kg and doc says were going to 10 mg per kg. If that doesn't do anything then bye bye remicade (and probably dome of my gut also). I guess I'm slowly coming to terms with that though

I know of someone who is on triple dosing every 4 weeks.

Not Imuran. He means they give him meds right before and during the Remicade infusion to reduce side effects.

For tsitodawg that means he gets benadry - tylenol - steroids - zofran - along with the Remicade each time.

I am on 10mg/kg right now. I have always received steroids, benedryl and tylenol before each infusion and am now taking hydroxizine as well due to getting hives. I get it every 6 weeks. It is no longer working for me and am picking up every bug around. I am also dealing with infections(sinus and bladder) that are taking 2 to 3 rounds of antibiotics to clear them.
So I am having another resection in 2 months.

No. I believe she is on 15 mg every 4 weeks.

I know for certain that the dose exceeds the maximum recommended dose and that the GI has had to do battle repeatedly to get insurance to cover it.

I think she has had many bad reactions to meds and I am pretty sure that has been one reason why they have worked so hard to keep her on remicade.

But the last I heard her breakthrough symptoms were getting worse and worse and they were considering trying a different biologic.

I have been on Remicade for years and am currently on 10mg/kg.  I once had a GI tell me that Remicade is a chymeric (sp?) drug.  I would occasionally get bouts of fainting spells, hot flashes, water eyes, and general redness.  I could hear my heart beat and I would feel very hot.  The doctor told me that this was my body getting rid the mouse DNA.  It is also a Vaso-vagal response and most of the drugs mentioned above do help to control this from happening, at least in my experience.

I started at 5mg/kg and then went to 10mg/kg, or 1000mg at a time. I was on that dose for about 6 years. No premeds, no reactions, other than some issues towards the end.
