This!! So, so true! I have never watched as much Food Network as during my surgeries! My mother couldn't understand it! She thought it would make me miserable but I found it comforting!

my TV for sure. Its the deciding factor in when/if I go to the hospital during blockages. I have way more cable channels, I have better tv's and I have them in all the strategic places (like in my bedroom but I can see it from the bathroom). My doctor is ok with me staying home, then home it is. Once the pain is too much I have no option and have to go to the hospital. In general I would rather be sick in my own enviroment. My own bed, sheets, clothes, just everything. So unless I really need medical support, I stay put.

Oh Zanne that is so true!! I would rather be at home then in the hospital...so usually when I end up in the hospital I am too sick to care that I am there...when I am well enough to wander halls with my *buddy* and constantly asking the doctor when I can leave..thats when I am ready for my family and home.

our home, my artwork, my wife, our beautiful daughter, our tw0 cats, watching the birds feed (we have tons). This is crazy, I love the food network also. I love it when tyler florence is cooking those really expensive rib eye roast(some expensive roast), they're like $25 a pound, 5-6 pound, like $150, looks good, all I see is huge hunk of meat getting stuck in throat. I have to agree...Food network! i tortured myself watching all the goodies being made while i was sipping on fluids. Its been awhile for me since i last did that but i may have to say when i have my days i can still turn to food with scd. Other than that, TV, movies, comedy shows, heating pad....

When I was in really bad shape I watched food network all day every day and ate with my eyes since actual food just made me sick. Lipton unsweetened iced tea made me happy and my old gray cat to absorb my tears when I was having a bad day, he always lays with me and purrs cuz he can sense when I'm sad.

I thought I was the only one re food network. I see things like bacon waffels and chocolate pancakes and make them for my daughter....
My wife thinks I am nuts. She says "why torture yourself?". From this post I now understand because I am eating with my eyes

Warm baths always make me feel better (if only for a few minutes)

I would say my comfort foods would be ramen noodles or mashed potatos and gravy.

Sounds like I need to get myself a heating pad! :)

My heating pad!!! Oh, how I love that thing!

Comfy, non-binding clothes (read: hubby's sweatpants) and, yes...FOOD NETWORK! (Or, Man v. Food on Travel Channel)...all those foods I want to eat, but can't...sigh...

Naps. Naps are so under-rated in helping you feel somewhat better. When I am in a full flare, I could sleep 18 hours an day!

really stupid question, but where do you put the heating pad? If my abdomen gets hot I immediately have to go to the bathroom! My butt is my problem area.. maybe I could lie on the heating pad? Right now my comfort is a soak in the tub. and sometimes a glass of red wine.
