I know it isn't summer yet,(wishful thinking) but me and my over active brain were wondering, if any of those med will react with the sun. I wear sunscreen, when i am outside on those wonderful sunny days, and i am not the sun bunny as i use to be when i was younger. ( i;m talkin tin foil and baby oil, baaaad i know) But I do love the sun. I am on remicaide now so should i be extra careful when the nice warm weather does show up, or will i be alright doing what i always do in the summer and screen up.

Depends on your body probably. My son has an intense sun-sensitivity the 2 days following taking Methotrexate. He will get a bad burn right through SPF 60 sunscreen.

I don't have any experience with Remicade so hopefullly someone else will chime in. I'd be cautious at first if I were you, especially those first few days after your infusion.

google it, or someone I would trust in this forum, I really don't think your gi would know that about the sun and rem. I know I have herpes, I can't lay in sun longer than 30 min. without possible outbreak. I got herpes thru std. from 1975 wild weekend in san francisco. I wear hat. to keep sun from my face.

I'm not sure if Remicade per se is what makes one sensitive to light...but it is known with some of the other meds we take, like Imuran, Methotrexate, sulfasalzine are the key light sensitivity medications...as well as some of the antibiotics (flagyl, cipro, tetracycline)...I live in Phoenix, so we get a LOT of sun (335 days of sun/year)...

If in doubt, wear a hat: it's generally a good idea to do so anyway, even for healthy people.

I have no problem with Remi and the sun. I started methotrexate today and will be hitting the tanning salon in a couple of weeks before heading to the beach for a week so we'll see how that goes. Worst case I'll skip the Methotrexate for a week.
