funeral

hi , my best friends mum has died and Im not well. the doctors suspects i have crohns but im still waiting on an appointment to get a colonoscopy to be diagnosed properly. im on steriods and steriod enema's. my enemas ran out and i cant get some til 2mro. i have to go out to the rosery tomorrow night and the funeral saturday morning. Im still running to the toilet all the time though.
any advice on what to do?
should i starve myself even though i do need the toilet sometimes even when i dont eat.
do you guys know anything i can do just for a day to get out.
i need to be there.

hey laura, what I do If I am going out and flareing and running to br, I will take a pain med to slow my bowel's down. nothing else works for me. hope this helps

My condolences on the loss of your friends Mom. You are so sweet to be thinking of her right now, sounds like she has a good friend in you.

My suggestion is to take a couple of Immodium before you leave. That will slow the bowels down and you can get it over the counter. You won't have any problems using the Immodium and the steroids together.

Maybe you could call the doc and see if they could call in something prescription for you to slow your bowels. There is a codiene I beleive that they use to slow the bowels down. Sorry not of much more help.

Did that prescribe any kind of anti spasmotic for you? Something like Bentyl, Levsin or Librax or maybe Buscapine. Just a thought. These are anti spasm meds and they tend to help slow my bowels down when needed.

How long have you been on the steroids and how many miligrams are you taking a day? They are usually pretty fast acting thats why I am asking.

nope nothing like that. i dont think my doctor really knows much. just waiting to diagnose me and waiting on an appointment with GI specialist.

ive been on the steriods about 2 weeks now, and take 5mg twice daily.
and then he gave me steriod enema that lasted a week which did help a lot. and since i came off them last nite i got a lot worse. so he's prescribed another week, but cant get them til 2mro.

i did say to doc today and he said theres not much else he can give me but to recommend taking the imodium, and just being unwell. .

i know theres not much i can do or u guys can advise but thanks again xxxx

laura are you in U.K.? if so, when Ilived in canada, they use to sell over the counter codiene pills, called 222. they stopped selling them over the counter when we moved back up there. But you might be able to get script for them. I take vicodin 5-500. there not strong ones, when I take 2, it just stops my pain, I don't feel anything, I can do anything I want. I don't like to take my pain med's for D. usually I don't, unless I'm out in public, and have no choise, then I take just 1. immodium I can't take, makes me cramp.

im in the uk yes, scotland. yeh i couldnt take imodium, thought i was the only one. il give this other one a try i think. have no choice.

p.s i dont think i could stop eating to be honset anyway, if i go a while without food i feel really sick and dizzy.

You may also want to pick up some adult diapers if you are really nervous about having an accident in front of everyone. Not the best solution but it may help a little.
