How often are you scoped?

Okay, after reading the responses to the which is worse, prep or c-scope...I was kinda curious how often most of you get your scopes... idea

So me, because of my liver issues(PSC) I get the joy of having a yearly c-scope...more frequent if my disease is progressing...

My upper GI scope (EGD) is scheduled every 3-5 years (again, more if symptoms increase, but scheduled regularly as I have upper GI crohn's as well)

So I'm just curious...and I'm sure others are too...curious about other here too... smilewinkgrin

I usually get scoped when I'm having a rough time. No schedule, just when I'm desperate to find out what's going on. Have had about 3 UGI SBFT too, but doc wants to lay off of those now and stick to scopes, so I guess scopes will become more regular.

My GI doc. tells me every 2 years.

1 time a year unless i am flaring so far this will be my 3rd in the past 4 months

only two since diagnosed, along with a CT scan and a SBFT...other then tons of blood work thats it for me so far!! We will see what the GI has to say on friday as I still have tons of pain...

I just had a checkup yesterday and asked this very question. I recently switched doctors (within the same practice) - looong story, but just wasn't being treated well by 1st doctor. He had diagnosed me as UC after having been a Crohnie for 11 years. My current doctor is confident I have Crohns, and so am I.

I used to just get flex. sig every few months with the first GI I ever had (different city). Only colonoscopies if I was flaring or in hospital. The UC guy had me scoped every year (it started out as every other year, then I passed some milestone - 20 years?) then there was increased concern of cancer, so I went to yearly. Yesterday's appointment, he said every 3 years (yea!), so I don't have to get scoped till next March.

I wonder how much depends on what the insurance companies will allow?

every year for me now - due to the scar tissue and they are concerned about the increased chance of cancer... but I had a 10 year break :) Every year from now on does not sound fun to me but I have had two in the last year and another coming up next month.... so it is more often when flaring or recovering from a flare and trying new meds. When healthy, it is one per year... hopefully it will stay at once a year :)
