I just thought I'd post this because I've read several posts over the years by people wondering how long it takes to get moonface etc... I've been closely documenting it and I'm also going to do the opposite when I get off to see how long it takes to go down. Now, it's not a full moon yet, just the beginning stages, full cheeks and my eyes look more sunk in (I have high cheekbones and a round face to begin with). I know we are all different but if we got a good thread started it may provide a general time frame smilewinkgrin I'm on 40mg per day and first signs at 19 days. I'll keep this updated as I go along, but I may be tapering next week.. with luck :)

Ugh...I feel for you. I HATE moonface. That is the WORST! Why, after all these years of research, have they not figured out how to make Prednisone less...yucky?

I have always disliked the moonface, but the Pred at times is just a necessity in our lives. I will have to look at my last moonface until 2017, because I had it when my passport photo was taken. Of course, I no longer have it, but still have to look at that darn photo all time. Hugs~

My first time on Pred I had no moonface. This year when I was on Pred, I had a moonface from 35mg until I tapered to 5mg. It happened overnight one night. Went to bed normal and woke up looking like a hamster.

Nanners, you're lucky you only have to look at your moonface until 2017. I had a bad one when I had my engagement pictures taken this summer and I have to look at them FOREVER!! sad

I have had a case of the "moon face" for awhile. I hope at some point when I get off predisone it will go away and the weight gain. Any long term "moon face" issues with 2-3 years of usage?

I was on it for four months or so, and I have the best moonface you porbably ever seen. It took me a awhile to loose the cheeks and everything. You don't really realize how bad it is until you see pictures of your self and you're just like oh dear god. haha

@ Nanners LOL my passport photo was taken at the height of my moon face..... I'll have that one till 2015 I believe shocked ...it's a wonder no one told me NOT to wear a freakin choker type necklace?...seriously what's wrong with my friends lol?!

Dana good luck w/ the taper I hope you come off it soon! I invested in a good number of hats that year ;)...Lucky ish for me I'm steroid resistant so I just get joint pain and fat it doesn't help at all with my CD. I lost the moon face a couple months after I switched to Entocort I believe...

Haha yeah pictures are the worst! Last time I was on pred was during the holidays.. so there are pictures. It's kind of neat to show ppl though, they can't believe how big a face can get lol

I didn't get the moonface but did gain 10 pounds after 2 months on pred.

I don't remember the weight gain or the moon face till I actually had been on it for a couple of months. My last two DL pictures have been torture..Where is my face..??? I have avoided taking pictures over the last two years.

Knock on wood, all the times on Pred and no moon face. I just had high energy, appetite and weight gain.
