Hi again,

I posted about a month ago about my liver enzymes being elevated & being taken off Imuran. I've now been off ALL my meds for a month and my levels are slowing coming down but not as quick as they'd like. I saw a hepatologist who, with my GI, decided we should do a liver biopsy this Friday.

My ALT levels have been 463, 870 (after stopping Imuran), 601 & 528. I was told anything over 300 is too high. AST has been normal, I think.

I think they're leaning towards autoimmune hepatitis. Any info on liver biopsies or AIH that you'd like to share? (I realize there's a hepatitis board but I thought I'd start here)

My enzymes have gone up and down over the years and we've suspected it was various meds.  I had an MCRP, ERCP and liver biopsy and I think they concluded that everything was fine.  The liver biopsy was not bad at all.  Some of the meds that caused the elevations didn't take long to get out of my system, but I've had a few where it took a couple of months to get the enzymes back down to normal.  Hopefully, that's all that's going on here.

I have previosly taken azathrioprane (imuran is the same I think). After using for 2 years it casued my liver enzymes to go sky high. I felt like I had flu, I had no appetite, was sick on an evening after food. I also went yellow and itched like mad. I feel sure I had something like hepatitis but my GI never confirmed this. I came off the drug and started to feel better after a week or so. It took me over a month to fully recover.
