This reply goes out to tistodawg: Thanks so much for all the advice, and your probably right about
the anxiety, and I think part of it is not working and wondering if I'm going to be able to work again and worrying about
money, as my husband is the only one working right now. This is my 2nd opinion with this GI doctor, and he's supposed to specialize in this disease. The nurse called me a couple of weeks ago and told me my bloodwork is stable and that he didn't at this time was not worried or concerned, but I do have an appt with him next month to go over the bloodwork in more detail. I do know that last weekend I had some bad stomach pains and I even threw up once, but I remember eating a couple of heavy meals within a 24hr period, so I'm attributing it to that. I guess I can't expect Humira to work that fast as I've only had a total of 4injections and my next one is next week. An acquaintance friend of mine that's dealt with Crohns for years and takes Humira as well, said to give it at least 3months, before I would start noticing a difference.
Just wonderin if you take any kind of Vitamin supplements of any kind, I only take liquid calicum and a probotic and am hoping that doesn't interfere with Humira, which I'm thinking it probably doesen't.
How long have you had Crohns and do you have any other issues that you are struggling with besides Crohns?
I know it helps me to talk to other people that are going thro the same disease as me and to see what they are going thru as well. But with Crohns, I know that everyone deals with it differently and if effects everyone in a different way. I guess what works for one, doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work the same for the other person. I know my Crohns started out out in my small bowel and now is in my illeocal valve (I can never spell that word). I now have 5-6 Fistulas in that area as well, so my GI Doctor told me there is a 50-65% chance of Humira healing my fistulas. But he said doing nothing isn't good either because I could end up with a bowel obstruction and in the hospital and surgery wouldn't be an option for me because he said, that once you start cutting away bowel isn't a good idea.
I know sometimes I get kinda constipated and somes (D) and my GI doctor recommended Fiber-con, which for me the pills are kinda big, so I take off/on a chewable Fiber-choice. I probably should be taking that everyday not just once in awhile.
I'm finally starting to feel better again, and I think once I can get back to work even it's only part-time, would make me feel alot better about myself and wouldn't have time to be concerned about my health so much. You can't expect miracles overnight, I just have to give Humira a chance to work, and eating a more healthy diet would probably helop as well. I have a tendency to eat too much junk and sugary stuff- which is not good when you have Crohns, or anything else for that matter.
Sorry for the novel-had to get some stuff off my chest so-to-speak. Take care and keep me posted from time-time-would like to know how your doing as well--Silvergriz--
