I'm very sensitive to medication and tend to get many side effects, including the ones listed as "rare." Due to this, I'm trying to research Crohn's medication so I can find a medication with the least amount of adverse side effects. I can't take methotrexate, humira, or any of the TNF drugs. Does anyone have any advice on good Crohn's drugs for mild-moderate Crohn's that won't cause too many side effects?

The only other medications are the 5 ASA medications or Imuran or 6mp. Alot of our members have had great success (some for over 10 years or more) with either Imuran or 6mp. Good luck!

And I'm doing well on Pentasa (a 5ASA).

there is also entocort.. supposed to be for short term use - but i used it for 5 years cause i had probs with everything else until i tried humira.
entocort is a steroid but has a very low bioavailability - so it basically acts as a 'topical' steroid, with little drug actually absorbed into the bloodstream.
pentasa or similar meds are usually first line for mild/mod disease. also very few side effects - also has fairly low bioavailability.

I really think you are just going to have to do like many of us have, and that is go by trial and error to find what works for "you". We are so individual in many things, what works for one doesn't work for another. I have had great success with Asacol, and it works great for me. Hugs!
