Gosh, that's awful. I'm so, so sorry Tabicat. You are a strong woman and he is going to miss you big time! {{{{{HUGS}}}}

I am so sorry for you. You deserve much better. I know this won't really help but it is so true. "No man is worth crying over, and when you find the one who is, he won't make you cry." I know it seems really dark now, but you will see the light eventually and you will be so much happier.

I have been there. My husband broke off our engagement after we had been together for 3 years and we had been engaged for 6 months. The wedding was all planned, all the down payments were made and non refundable. We had just bought a car together the week before and he blindsided me. 3 weeks later, he apologized. He was just overwhelmed with too much stuff happening in one week. Our wedding was planned for the same week that he was graduating from college, starting a new job, and moving. We eventually worked things out and have been married for almost 26 years. (Moved the wedding 8 weeks)

I hope that if he is the right one for you, you can work things out. If not, I hope your CD doesn't spiral out of control while you deal with things.

That is very upsetting. I always ask my fiance if he is sure he can handle being with me. I feel like hell a lot of the time and I imagine that it's not easy to deal with. I am so sorry you're going through this. I think he will realize what a mistake he's made after he lets it sink in. Being with the person you love is the most important, worrying about "taking care" of them shouldn't be an issue if you love them. I would do it for my fiance if the tables turned. Hopefully i would be capable of doing that for him. I don't know what else to say, maybe it wasn't meant to be? You're young, imagine where the relatioship could have gone if you went through with the marriage? it's better that you didn't end up in that position. I am really sorry, men can be such jerks. Then I read Frosty's post and I think so can women...

So sorry to hear that (((HUGS))) it may be too soon to look at it this way for you, but the way I see it is that he clearly wasn't the right person for you and there is the right person out there, I know it sound like a bad cliche but I feel it's true...imagine if he would have decided this after getting married (with the stress and the expense of that alone on your disease) I know it's hard right now to see the silver lining in this cloud (I'm good with cliche's eh) but believe me I think you're better off and you'll likely feel the same way before you know it....keep your chin up, you don't want to miss Mr. Right cuz your head is down.

Im so sorry for your pain and sadness tabicat, it is right in what the others say in that he doesnt dserve to be with you and you sure deserve better. There are lots of people on here that have loving and supportive partners (including me - although we both have crohns), that is what you deserve.

I'm feeling a bit better than I was yesterday. Most people have told me the same thing, I can do better etc.

It's just his words were so hurtful.
I'm not even sure what he means by "take care of me" I have my own job, I've been taking care of myself for 27 years. Sure it would be nice to have someone to rely on if for some reason I wasn't able to work anymore, or if I just wanted to work part time. But I have never asked him to take care of me.

I think I'm done being sad, right now I'm just peed off!

I feel like maybe I should just hang out at the GI office to meet a decent guy that's understanding and "strong enough" to be with me! :\

So sorry to hear about this tabi. My thoughts are along the lines of what's already been said - it's terrible that it happened, but if he was going to flake out on you, much better to find this out now than after you've been married and/or had kids.
