I am thinking of trying this diet by Dr. David Klein for my daughter, the only worry I have is she is 91 pounds and she will lose weight but has anyone had success with this?

I briefly considered the diet when I was first diagnosed and even paid to download the book. Ultimately it seemed way too restrictive and I was too thin at the time. It didn't seem possible that I could gain weight on it.

Have you ever considered the SCD? Klein's diet is basically the SCD without any animal fat or protein. I believe his diet works, but disagree with his theory about it: that animal fat and protein is the cause of all disease. I think it's the SCD principles that make his diet work. Also, it is my humble opinion that vegan diets are unnatural as well as unhealthy due to their not providing the right types of vitamins and minerals that people need.

Thanks so much for responding. I too, believe that vegan only would just put her at a lower weight and we really do not need that right now. I am going to look into the SCD diet. Glad to hear that Remicade has put you into remission. Do you handle that well? We are considering that as an option in the future but her doctors do not feel she is at that point yet even though we kind of disagree. Do you take any other medicine along with the Remicade? I have been told that some people are left on their other meds also. My daughter has had significant hair loss with the 6mp and that has bothered her also but I am adding folic acid to see if it slows that side effect down. Have you experienced any side effects from your treatments?

I am very fortunate to be able to say that I've never experienced any side effects on Remicade. It is currently the only med that I'm taking.
