Hi I posted a couple of weeks ago, I have upper right quadrant pain that travels to the lower and have been in pain for 8 weeks. I had a upper gastroscopy last week o rule out ulcers and the findings were that nothing was abnormal. Yesterday I had a CT scan, I have been so depressed and am unable to work or remember who I was two months ago. I am using Tramadol for the pain. My pain flares up more when i lay down at night and have been falling asleep upright on the sofa. I was wondering if anyone knew if a CT scan is any good at diagnosing crohns?? I am seeing a private GI specialist tommorow for blood test results for Celiac and protein electrophoresis - not sure what tthe protein one is for?? he should be ordedring a MRI - he told me not to have a CT scan when i saw him a month ago but feel that I need a answer to why I am in so much pain - and my GP referred me for one because he was worried that I have peritinitis - the specialist was going to order a small bowel MRI through tthe NHSbecause he suspects crohns and it is too expensive for me to pay privately - but he may not now because I have had a CT - not sure if a CT shows differnet findings to a MRI.
I seem to have so many questiions and fears going around in my mind and it is impacting on my mental health. I realise that I have had these flair ups on and off over the years and they usually get blamed on a kidney infection (without diagnosis) and I have been given antibiotics in the past to clear it up - this last flair has taken everything out of me and the pain is higher up than before, not sure how much longer i can go on without a diagnosis because it feels so disempowering.
Just wnat to get back to being a normal Mum, Wife and employee
Words of wisdom would be kindly appreciated
J
