I have been on Remicade for just over 8 yrs and after the last 4 infusions I have ended up with serious reactions 2 weeks after tx. My Liver, Kidneys and Pancreas swell and is extremely painful. ER is not an option when this happens there is nothing that they can do was told your GI must treat you for this. :(

The first 3 times It lasted for 3 days this last one was 24 hours. My Doctor is basically no help. He says that I can either deal with this everytime I have a treatment (refuses to give pain meds or anti-inflamatory to help) or switch to Cimzia. States that I could have the same reaction to Cimiza.

Also Dr said he has several patients who have Crohns and are on the Cimzia and have great results, however they do not have Crohns like I do. My Crohns affects My Entire Digestive Track. (mouth to anus)

HELP I dont know what to do (besides changes Dr's then it will become a Ins issue) Any and All comments and suggestions are welcomed.

Fustrated!!!!!

I am so sorry that you get so sick after your injections.

What about Humira ?
Humira works even better for me then Remicade.

I would also check out other docs, why wont he give you anything for the pain?

I was on Remicade for about 5yrs until I started to get a reaction after the infusions.

Migrane headaches, sore kidneys and swollen throat.

I've been on humira since 01/2011 and just started getting a reaction.........crap!

I agree that I would discuss Humira with your doc. Humira does not have the mouse antibodies and less chance of reactions. Sounds like you have had a good run with the Remicade, but its just starting to peter out on you. Good luck on whatever decision you make. Hugs!

Hi My Doc Doesnt recommend Humira he says it isnt that effective on the type of Crohns that I have. I am trying to find out if the Cimzia is made with the mouse antibodies and I cant seem to find the info. Trying to Change Doctors is Horrible because the ins co is a pain in the you know what.

My Doc says pain meds are not good for people with Crohns and Im like really you wouldnt be saying that if u were the one living with this!!!!!

Of course keep checking, I was pretty sure only Remi was made from mice.  I am not positive, wish I was.  Which DR won't help you with the pain and such?  The GI or the GP?  I am working with my GP in conjunction and he is helping where the GI has been as informative as I thought.  Actually has more to do with what questions I didn't know to ask kind of thing.

If you go on Cimzia and it fails to work can you go back to Remicade ? If so , trying the Cimzia looks like the way to go as you really have nothing to lose if it fails and a lot to gain if it works.

Agree with Sniper! Give it a try, you might get to feeling better. My GI never prescribes pain meds, I have to get mine from the family doc. I suggest you talk to your family doc about getting some relief from your pain. Hugs!
