Anyone pregnant?  Having a flare and just found out that I am pregnant!  Was not planned and now I have to come off 6-MP.   My doctor wants to continue prednisone and Remicaide.  Worried about the baby.  Fisrt visit to OB tomorrow.

Congratulations!!  I was on Remicade and Pentasa while pregnant and had a very healthy baby girl.  If you do a search on pregnancy and Remicade here you should be able to find quite a few threads about it.  I think that reading some of those might ease some of your worries.  Be sure that your OB and GI are in contact with each other about your care.  Hopefully you are able to get your flare under control quickly!  Again, congrats:)

Why come off the 6MP? It's been proven time and again that it's safe for pregnancy, ESPECIALLY in women. I highly urge you to look at the research yourself and get a second opinion as I'm not a doctor...

Congratulations! I don't know whether it's safe or not since I've never been pregnant but I hope your flare gets under control.

Hi Karen and welcome to Healingwell. Congratulations on your pregnancy, I just love babies:) I have to agree with Riderfan, why come off the 6mp? We have many Mommies who have had healthy happy babies while on meds ranging from Pred, 6mp/Imuran, Remicade and Humira. The only one not allowed is Methotrexate.

I have also heard that if you flare early in your pregnancy it is usually pretty short lived. I hope yours continues in the usual fashion. Hugs!

Congratulations! How exciting for you! You don't have to come off of the 6mp. According to my GI (back in 2006) the studies show that women who take 6mp during pregnancy have no greater incidence of birth defects/problems/etc than women who DON'T take 6mp while pregnant.

Also- you might not be flaring. How far along are you? Sometimes the hormone shift at the beginning of pregnancy mimics a flare and it settles down in a few weeks. When I was pregnant with #1 and #3 I was sick until the end of the first trimester. I thought I was flaring, but turns out it was just pregnancy. I also took prednisone and remicade during my pregnancies - all my kids are fine and healthy. Don't worry. Baby is going to be just fine.

I agree with the others. Why come off? Question your GI, specialists and do your own homework. I also agree with Stef that it may be hormones. Happened my second pregnancy and not my first. Do labs to get an idea.

Hi, congratulations! Don´t come off the 6-MP! Has been proven is less risk than a sick mother, especially when you are having a flare!
I just gave a birth to a healthy 4,3kg baby girl a week ago, was on Imuran 150g/day whole pregnancy.

I'm newly pregnant and having a flare too. I'm 7 weeks along, and my Crohn's has been acting up the past 2 weeks. I stopped my meds about 6 weeks ago, and was doing fine until recently. I'm going back to the GI tomorrow and having a sigmoidoscopy and will seriously consider restarting my medication (Colazal). I'm really nervous about meds, even though Colazal is a Class B, but I know that being flaring and stressed isn't healthy for the baby either.
I'm hoping my flare will clear up soon as someone else mentioned is possible.

Hi, I'm also pregnant. 6months(ish) I have had 2 flares. Prescribed 40mg prednisolone to taper. Every time I finish I am healthy for 3 weeks the flare. Sat in the hospital now awaiting next course of action as symptoms are starting again. I am hoping if can't be a 3rd lot of steroids..... X
