So frustrated, another fistula

I just came back from the gyno and he told me I had a recto vaginal fistula. I just froze when I heard that. I can't take another fistula and another surgery, it's been less than a year since my last fistulotomy for my last 3 fistulas. My graduation is in less than a month and I've had to miss so many events in my life I can't stand to miss my high school graduation also. I'm taking Humira every 10 days and evidently it didn't stop this fistula from surfacing. I'm so frustrated! Just when I thought I was doing well I am told I have yet another fistula. Now I have to wait until Monday to call my GI and tell him. I really don't want another surgery. I've heard Remicade helps to dry them up. But isn't Remicade and Humira almost the same thing. I just hope there isn't a fistula but that might be wishful thinking.

Is it bothering you? Are you having pain or discharging fecal matter?

I have a recto vaginal fistula that I have had for over 10 years and other than occasional discharge of fecal matter when I am trying to hold D back until I get to the bathroom, and more frequently, gas coming out of it, it doesn't bother me so I leave it alone. I also have another fistula about an inch from my rectum. When I spoke to the surgeon, I was told that by having surgery, I would only have a 50-50 chance of it closing. To me, as long as it's not bothering me, I'm not going to mess with it. You can live with this for a while if you're not having problems.
