Hi All.

Yesterday I went for my pill cam results.

It was not exacty what I expected!! confused

First the doctor said to me I got good news, but you probably already know from your family doctor. But I didn't.... he said my family doctor has been calling for results a little worried about me.

My pill cam results came back with no signs of crohns. The Gi doctor said he thinks I have mild mild crohn's of the Terminal ileum and possibly a bit further up with the little ulcers he saw. But he said that the mild crohns would not cause the problems I have been experiencing. He wants to do further tests and some repeat tests. He has sent a requisition for a ct scan and depending on those results maybe another barium swallow.

So far his thoughts are possibly infections from the divertucolosis or twisted bowel syndrome. He is leaning towards twisted bowels. But he did prescribe antibiotics just for fun to see if it was something from the diverticulosis or an overgrowth of bacteria.

If nothing is found from either of those two tests he wants me to go through exploratory surgery of the small bowel, he told me that twisting intestines are extremely hard to diagnose and sometimes exploratory is the only way to see it. He doesnt want to have to diagnose it the hard way by me landing in the hospital with bowel obstruction or something else.

As I said it was not what I expected. He is just as confused as I am but said will get to the bottom of it.  He had an intern in his office this time, and he looked as perplexed as my Gi did.  He has asked me to go on a multi vitamin to try help with my exaustion.

And if things get worse to call him immediately and he will try to sqeeze me in.

Anyway that was my appt yesterday, I don't have much else to say I'm still a little confused.

It sounds like "twisted intestine" might be what docs call volvulus.

My mother doesn't have Crohn's, but she did have volvulus, probably present since birth. She never had any symptoms until she was in her late 70s, when one day she suddenly started projectile vomiting and blood showed up in the toilet. She would go to ER, they couldn't find anything and the symptoms settled down and then a month or six months later, it would happen all over again. After about four rounds of trips to ER, a surgeon figured it must be volvulus and decided to do exploratory surgery.

In exporatory surgery, the doc almost gave up when suddenly he found where the twist was - so it does indeed seem hard to diagnose and find.

My son had a twisted bowel when he was about 11 mths old. He was waiting for surgery in the ER,
when he just suddenly stopped vomiting and screaming. Xray showed that his bowel had righted
itself.

Oh I forgot to mention something funny.

The doctor started asking me questions about if I have ever drank alcohol excessively or any history of liver diseases in my family.

I started thinking of what he said and I'm starting to get a bit worried. Could he be thinking there might be something wrong with my liver.

I have an appt with my family doctor on May 30, I might ask for a blood tests or ask him what he thinks about possible liver damage.

You know I never thought about it being anything else but my intestines, I'm glad the physician is thinking outside the box.

could liver problems cause pain and diarrhea??

With a colonoscopy he can tell if you have crohns, and while he is up there he can biopsy to know for sure.  Good luck and take care.

Already gone through the dreaded colonoscopy and he found small ulcers of the TI and said that it was either mild crohns or non at all my biopsy came back inconclusive for crohns and my large bowel came back negative for Ibd.
I plan on asking my family doctor a couple if questions this week about my constant D and see if he thinks prescribing cholestramine to see if it will help with my D I've been doing some research and spoke to someone with crohns of the ileum and her bile salts aren't regulated properly because if this.

Any one else try this type if medication. Did it work.

I know I'm a pain but this is just getting me down.

Hi.

Been tested for celiac as well came back negative on the biopsy. Blood tests showed pissible so he did an endoscopy to be sure.
It's funny you mention that I'm going to try to have a gluten free month starting now but for the month of June should be interesting. Gluten us a tricky thing to look out for.

Ya its a tricky thing, you have to read every label...even eggs have glutin in them as the chickens feed on wheat.  Its going to be hard but your going to make it.  Here is the deal with glutin, you cant be around anywhere someone uses flower as you can breath it in, make sure any surface is cleaned well so that you dont pic up any wheat that may have gotten on it..  Usually a biopsy will confirm if you have it or they can swab your nose for it...  Just wish you all kinds of luck..

Thx I need all the luck I can get.

My biopsy actually came back negative for celiac but someone told me that could be because of where they took the sample. But the pill camera came back with no signs of crohns or celiac. Hard to know with out a little trial.
