Doc insisting on Cimzia...scared...

So, I've been diagnosed with Crohn's for over 5 years, went from Pentasa, to Entocort, and now my doc tells me the biologics are the only good option left. I just got married, and want kids in the next year or two, and she insists the biologics are the best for childbearing. It doesn't help that my latest CT showed a potential fistula growing from my ileum back to my jejeunum. I know plenty of ladies on this forum have had happy babies on biologics, but I'd love some reassurance. Cimzia is the newest drug in the bunch, and I don't see a lot about it on forums. Hoping there are some Crohn's Cimzia mommies who can give me some advice. I also work in a restaurant setting, so if they are any of you who have advice on working in the public, on a TNF inhibitor, that would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I'm not a woman, however, I have been on Remicade for over three years. I teach college students, who are incubators of illness. I've only had one cold since I've been on Remicade. I've not had any other illness in that time. I used to get at least two colds a year like clockwork, but ironically my health on Remicade is at its best ever.

I've done very well on cimzia. The longer I go on it, the better it seems to get for both crohns and joint pain. I'm looking to start having a family soon, but I know I can't get off biologics in the near future. My doctors are recommending I wait until full remission. I guess that's the best case scenario, ideal, but not sure if that day will come. They recommend I not be on any biologics before getting pregnant. So I'll keep waiting. Many women have had healthy babies on remicade and cimzia on here, not sure why my drs are reluctant? I think the most important thing is for you to be healthy so you have to do what you gotta do.
