Does anyone know what "Lymphoid Hyperplasia" really means?

I went to my rheumatologist yesterday for all my blood test results and he tested for celiac disease and all kinds of other things including my thyroid and lupus and lyme disease and other things. Everything came back normal apparently, and since there was nothing rheumatologically wrong with me he told me it would be the last visit unless I needed to see him again. But he said on my most recent blood test done with my Gastroenterologist, my GI doctor had made a note in my blood test results that said something about "lymphoid hyperplasia." The rheumatologist didn't tell me what it was because it was outside his area of expertise, or something like that. It's like, don't tell me about me having some kind of result but then not tell me what it means.

So I googled it, naturally. And almost every search I get has the word "cancer" in it. During my endoscopy and colonoscopy they did biopsies and said I didn't have cancer in my GI tract, so I am just wondering if anybody else has gotten a result in their blood tests about Lymphoid Hyperplasia and knows what it is? I don't keep finding really clear cut information online...

Lymphoid Hyperplasia can definitely sound scary but usually is not a cause for too much concern. Like Nanners said it is a rapid growth in cells, but this is almost always a benign problem (not cancerous). There are 3 types of Lymphoid Hyperplasia, each affecting different cells, so you might be interested to find out what kind you have and talk to your doctor about it.

Just wondering, do you still have your Appendix?? Have you had any right lower quadrant problems not associated with Crohn's? Sometimes Lymphoid Hyperplasia, depending on where it is, causes Appendix issues. (sorry if I seem prying, I work in a Histology lab and cells are my thing!) Best thing to do, talk to your Dr. and try not to worry too much :)

No, no it's fine. I still have my appendix. I have pain in different areas in my abdomen. Like my stomach or my lower left and lower right abdomen, the pain can be at the same time or single places at random times.

I've been told my appendix looks fine though, I'm considering seeing a new GI doctor for a second opinion as well...
