I am dealing with symptoms of severe abdominal pain and blood covered stool once a month. The only time I have blood in stool is when I have the double over intense pain.

Went to GI 2 months ago he did a colonoscopy and small bowel follow through. The small bowel took 5 hours to go through my bowels I was positive it would show problems since it took so long.

Well both tests came back normal, I guess the wording for the small bowel was exceptional? He is stating I have large internal hemorroids and just wants to give me suppositories for that and send me on my way with no other options. He never did blood work or offer any other test.

I got upset today because I am having another painful flare with blood and the office is just offering the hemorroid script. I told the nurse that this is not hemorroid related if the only time I see blood is when I am doubled over in pain and the stool is soft.

I have had issues with severe endometriosis and have had several surgeries related to that should I just give up the GI dr route and go to an endo specialist or is this doctor not doing his job?

Did you Google this DR. or what??

Ask your PCP for a referral to another GI, or otherwise

So when you havve these bad pain days is it usually during your cycle? If so, that really could be hemmoroids causing your problems with bleeding. Is the blood bright red in your stool? If so, that is another sign pointing to external or internal hemmoroids.

Another thought is if this pain is coming during your monthly cycle that the Endo is causing problems for you too. I would discuss that with your GYN doc. Hugs!

I had a hysterectomy in 2008 so I do not know when my cycles would run. I also had surgery to remove a grapefruit size endometriosis mass in the November. I am in a lot of pain and the Dr office called this morning stated they don't give pain meds and all they offer is referral to a colorectal surgeon for hemorroids. How is surgery going to help my upper middle abdominal pain? Our copay for emergency room is $100 so I am just going to suffer until I can get into another GI office.

I called and scheduled with another GI but cannot get into that office until September. I just hope I am not waiting another few months to see a Dr that will not make that extra effort to find out what is going on.

Okay if you are not having periods anymore, then how can it still be endo? Did you keep your ovaries? I had a complete hysterectomy myself and no longer have any monthly issues at all.

I would like to ask again, is the blood you see bright red? If so then it more than likely from hemmoroids. As for the Colerectal Surgeon he would probably want to remove them. But I would be careful with that because they could be skin tags many Crohnies have and I have heard thats not a good idea to have those removed.

Could you possibly see your family doctor for something for pain. Gi's are notorious for not prescribing pain meds, I have to get mine from my family doc. Hugs!

Yea, especially if it some podunk GI. You probably won't get anything for pain. Legit as it may be. That is why I was saying get in contact with your PCP..
