Just wondering how many people in the forum have gained/lost weight (due to prednisone, flare ups or any treatment) in comparison to when you were asymptomatic.
Many people say that they have put on some weight due to Prednisone during the treatment but I never do!
To me, it seems like a lot of women tend to gain weight while on Prednisone but men don't as much?

I was left with more than a few LBs from all these silly meds!

When I was first DX'ed I was still losing weight even on Entocort and the occasional weeks of prednisone
Because of this really strict low residue diet I have had to be on for my extremely narrow stricture in my TI (18months already) I have gained about 20 pounds
But at least I haven't had any more trips to the ER or painful blockages
I am looking forward to my resection in August so I might be able to eat some salad and other normal foods for me again in the Fall

I have gained and lost probably twice my actual weight over the 23 years I have had CD. Currently I am just a few pounds over my high school weight and I am 46. I don't really think its a good look for a middle age woman, but it could be worse. I have been as much as 50 - 60 lbs higher and 25 lbs lighter. I am not as concerned with weight as I am with how I feel, if I have to weigh more to feel good, that's fine, but if I am going to feel miserable no matter what my size, then I would rather be at a size that I am comfortable at. Plus buying and storing all the different size clothes is a pain!

Ds was approx 93lb when diagnosed, gained 2lb when on entecort and total enteral nutrition, now 17 months later is weighing in at 142lb (:D) although if he has a bad couple of days he can soon shift 7lb!

I've gained weight since my resection but not because of drugs. I could finally eat more without becoming obstructed. I'm about 20 lbs more than 14 years ago. That's 20 lbs I could stand to lose.... It could also be a bit of getting older too.

I have gone up and down with my weight with each flare. I try to keep a few extra pounds on in the good times, because it falls off fast in the bad times. Hugs!

I gained about 20 pounds after my first resection when they started giving me prednisone since nothing else works for me. My weight definitely goes up and down with my flares and phases of prednisone, but I've never been able to quite get back down to the weight I was at before my diagnosis (of course I was 17 at the time and will probably never be that weight again). Every time I come close I have to go back up on the prednisone. I hate to admit, but I used to really downplay my symptoms and put up with a lot of pain because I dreaded that prednisone weight gain and awkward-looking swelling. Now I'll do anything to get better. Funny how things change with a little age.

Lost 50 with first flare. Gained 30 back then like 10 more over the years. Lost 20 with most recent flare. Can't even gain 1 back. :(
